Adverse Weather Policy

The safety of our stallholders, visitors and event team is our priority. We monitor weather conditions closely in the lead up to each market and have procedures in place to ensure the market can operate safely where conditions allow. The following guidance sets out how different wind conditions will be assessed and what measures will be put in place.

Normal Weather Conditions
Wind gusts of 0 to 31 mph (Beaufort Scale 0 to 6) are considered normal weather conditions and the market will operate as planned. All gazebos are secured Using leg weights on the feet and using bungees to secure gazebos together.

Adverse Weather Procedure
Wind gusts of 32 to 38 mph (Beaufort Scale 7) are classed as adverse weather conditions. In these circumstances in addition to the safety arrangements for normal weather conditions, all gazebos must use water filled ballast weights suspended from the top corners to create downward pressure and increase stability.

Severe Weather
Where wind gusts are forecast to exceed 38 mph, it will be considered unsafe to operate and the market will be cancelled.

In the lead up to each market, we continually monitor the weather forecast. If severe weather is forecast, we will issue an email notification on the Wednesday prior to the market advising traders that there is a risk of cancellation.

The final decision on whether the market will be cancelled will be made at 2:00 pm on the day before the market.

If the market is cancelled due to severe weather, a full refund will be provided. Refunds will not be issued if the market proceeds as planned.
